1999 Glider Festival
Apple Valley, California

Here are some shots of the 6th Annual "Southern California Scale Glider Festival" held at Apple Valley, California. This years October event was put on by the "ISSA", and "EMS" of Germany, was our sponsor. Ems provided a mini, Duo Discus won by Ben Clerx, and a wing and glider carry Bag won by Iain Glithero. The weather was typical October, clear sky's and good thermal activity. 26 pilots from California, Arizona and Texas, enjoyed the wide open spaces and the fellowship of fellow modelers.

There were 5 tug's and plenty of flying for all. Static judging for modern was won by Dan Troxell with his 1:3 Twin Acro, and Dennis Brandts 1:4 Minimoa took Vintage honors. The great success of this years event has laid the ground work for this to be an annual event. If you would like to plan on coming, Lodging and Map information can be seen on the "Events Page" .
