Making the Side Combings
Making the side combings is much the same as I did on the 26 except I am making the plugs removable so I can mold them.
Since this model is bigger it's a little easier to work on and I wanted to keep the weight down so making molds for lighter parts made sence.
Later I will show the cocpit with the parts in place and primed.

Here is the left side patern with a foam former.

I masked the inside of the fuse, then used partal wax mold release. Clamped the formers in place ready for body filler. |
Here is the rough plugs with some referance photos. |
Fiting and finishing the right side. Here you see the air vent and the mount for the seat adjustment pad. |
Same with the left side. Here you see the flap and spoiler recess and the tow release faring. |
Here I show the plugs primed with polyester primer. |
Here I made the bulkheads to hide the rear of the cocpit. I used light ply that is removable with screws. The top white cardboard templet will be fited after the combings are permante. |
Here you see how the right side combing fits the rear bulkhead. |
Again on the right side. The tape on the seat tray is marking where the landing gear handel with go. |
Here you see the left side in the rough. Starting to look like the real thing. |
